Florence full of Summer beauty

Welcome to one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Firenze.  With the richness of its history, art and to its credit, known as the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, the sensory experience of Florence is not to be missed.  We gather early evening in our hotel lobby around 6 pm for welcome cocktails (aperitivo) and to meet each other as we will be spending an enchanting week together experiencing life to the fullest.  Our hotel, a five star luxury hotel is situated in a XV century building in the heart of Florence and known for impeccable service.  After meeting each other (and our aperitivi), we dine together!  We will break bread, drink local Tuscan wine and enjoy one of the most mouth- watering meals we’ve ever had at one of Florence’s oldest and most delicious restaurants.  Our menu fixe will include (in our opinion) one of the best Bistecca alla Fiorentina in town. Florence is known for great food and even better wine.  This restaurant is one of my personal favorites and at the top of the list.    As we sit together for our welcome dinner and enjoy our food and wine, we can unwind and share our travel experiences.  Our journey has just begun and A Toast to Travel is in order!

Buongiorno! It’s not a dream, we really are waking up in beautiful Florence today.  Our dream continues as, after breakfast we have a special day planned in by far, one of the most private, warm and memorable wineries in Tuscany.  We meet today around 10 am to travel through beautiful rolling hills and slopes, dotted with vineyards and olive groves, to arrive at our secluded, award winning winery where we will spend the day visiting the winery, meeting those who have spent a lifetime in the business and learning about wine.  A special day is planned as we learn, laugh and drink.  We have also created a locally sourced lunch menu, authentic gastronomic specialties and depending on the season, will have the freshest of produce, tomatoes, mushrooms, broccoli, olive oil and Tuscan meats and cheeses, all of course, with wine made right at the winery.  Weather-permitting, we will dine al-fresco at this fascinating and enchanting place in history.  A true breath of fresh Tuscan Air! A true appreciation of the art is inevitable, inevitable as well will be the great company of our group and warm new friends we make during this unforgettable day together.   The hamlet’s beautiful vineyards endeavor to inspire, as do we, you.

Firenze Duomo

Good Morning!  After a satisfying breakfast, we meet at around 10 am to begin our exploration of one of the culturally richest cities in the world.  We plan on spending the day together on a city tour with a unique, cozy lunch and ending the day with a gelato tasting. Today, we will visit the main squares and buildings of Florence, Signoria Square, Duomo Square with Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, Ponte Vecchio and the Pitti Palace, which was acquired by the Medici family in 1549 and later used as a power base by Napoleon.  During the day, we will stop for an exclusive sit down lunch and wine pairing at an Enoteca in the heart of Florentine old town where we savor the flavors, scents, colors and moments together of cured meats, Tuscan cheese and of course, Tuscan wine.  After lunch, we continue our exploration of the city with medieval towers and Renaissance palaces.  We finish our enchantment of Florence with nothing other than a gelato tasting at one of the oldest (and most delicious) gelateria in Florence.

Begin your day with a delicious breakfast at the Hotel Hall, which used to serve as the Italian Parliament and enjoy the day as you wish.  We have many suggestions for your day off but please save your energy for tonight!  Around 5 this evening, meet back at the hotel for your chariot awaits (private Mercedes minivan) to take us all to a private winery in Chianti for an amazing Tuscan experience.  We will be travelling to an awarding winning winery and castle that dates back to the 1400s where Leonard da Vinci painted his masterpiece, the Mona Lisa.  Once at the Castle, we will enjoy a tour of the gardens and castle and learn about the vineyards.  We will also have the opportunity to visit the wine cellar and learn about the fermentation and maturation process.  After, we will enjoy an aperitivo in the courtyard, followed by a four course Tuscan Banquet made with locally sourced ingredients paired with wine from the winery.  The pasta is hand-made and not to be missed.  It’s also important to try the olive oil produced onsite—it’s one of the best we’ve ever tried.  Of course, our meals will be made with it!  The conversation and wine will flow most beautifully!  Our evening can last into the night so please save your energy for this beautiful, one of a kind Tuscan gathering.  We look very forward to spending the evening with you A Tavola!

The freshest ingredients to Cook Like a Local in Tuscany

Today, whether you have breakfast or sleep in, you have your morning free.  For the afternoon, there are two optional events for you to participate in.  For those interested, we can arrange a traditional Tuscan cooking class with a local chef  where you will be guided through the art of cooking traditional Tuscan fare (with wine of course).  The class would start around noon.  Also optional and for those interested, we can share information with you about a secret spot—a secluded five star private club/hotel for cigars and scotch (or wine) where you can enjoy your afternoon.  The cigars and scotch will be concurrent with the cooking class.  For those who prefer time on their own, there is also great shopping all around Florence and we can certainly provide you with our recommendations.  But please, save some energy and hunger for our grand farewell dinner.  We meet again later tonight for another fantastic restaurant in Florence where we have crafted a fixed menu of great Tuscan food and of course, wine.  We look very forward to spending the evening with you sharing all our travel stories and reminiscing all that we experienced together over our last great meal and wine together.  Vi Aspettiamo!

After breakfast, a day of History, Glory, Art and Transcendence await.  Around 10 am we meet to visit the most famous museums in Florence, the Uffizi and the Accademia Galleries.  Michelangelo? Botticelli? Da Vinci?  The Uffizi houses one of the world’s most important collections of Italian Renaissance Art.  It was chosen to house the Medici collections and in the 17th century, the Grand Duke made it possible to visit the gallery with a special permit.  Well, we have one today!  After our transport back in time, we will bring you back momentarily as we have lunch with Tuscan wine at a modern restaurant with fantastic views of the Arno.  We will enjoy Tuscan delicacies and great wines while sharing our views on the art we’ve just experienced.  From the restaurant, we will walk over to the Accademia Gallery.  Many of the works of art at the Accademia were commissioned by the powerful Medici family and donated so that these works could be admired by all.  And that is exactly what we will do.  An experience at the Uffizi and Accademia Galleries should not be missed.    Be prepared to be transported back in time, a time which was known for opulence and beauty. For those with yet an appetite for more after returning to the present day, we can provide you with dinner suggestions at some of our favorite local spots.
